Apple Crisp

February 6, 2011 by Merry Bevill 5 Comments

Quick Apple Crisp is one of the easiest desserts to bake in a solar oven. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side for a traditional All-American, sure-to-please-everyone dessert. Quick Apple Crisp baked in a solar oven.

Apples are plentiful year around and can be made into delicious desserts. I have an apple peeler that peels, cores, and cuts all at the same time so cutting apples is very quick. If you don’t have an apple peeler, just peel, core, and slice the apples thin. No one will know, or care!, what the apples look like. They will just want to eat the Apple Crisp.Quick Apple Crisp baked in a solar oven.

I baked this apple crisp in my granite ware pan in the All American Sun Oven. The time it takes to bake in a solar oven depends on the type of solar oven you are using, the weather, and how focused the oven is to the sun. My Apple Crisp took about 1 1/2 hours to cook on a hot sunny day. The oven temperature was at 325 degrees. All American Sun Oven

We couldn’t wait for it to cool so we ate it hot, right out of the oven.  It was delicious.

Finally getting to comment on this great dish! This year has been incredibly busy with outside commitments. It’s absolutely delicious. I try not to have too many desserts around here but do like to carry something over to my daughter’s when visiting. This is one of her favorites.
