Earth Explorers at the Arizona Science Center
Take a quick walk through all of the regions of the world at the Earth Explorers exhibit at the Arizona Science Center in Phoenix Arizona. Tucked away in a corner of the third floor, the exhibit divides the world into five unique ecosystems: polar regions; oceans; mountains and caves; savannahs; and rainforests. Spend time studying the written commentaries, or let the beautiful displays and authentic mockups bring each unique environment to life and tell a story that even the youngest child will understand and enjoy. Stand next to a life size polar bear in the polar region; and go inside a replica of a ranger’s cabin, where insulated boots stand at the door and penguins play under the ice cap nearby. Float over the savannah in a hot air balloon and observe gazelle and giraffe migrating on the plains below; or drive a safari jeep and watch lions in the rear view mirror. Dive to the ocean depths and swim with the great white sharks; or trek through the rainforest full of bugs and snakes. Each region of the exhibit is as distinctive as its real life counterpart.
After exploring the regions of the world, explore the rest of the Science Center. Try your hand at creating a vortex or watch sands shifting or feel the rain and wind in an Arizona monsoon storm in the neighboring exhibit on the earth. No visit to the Science Center is complete without a stop at the Ham Shack. Learn how to write your name in Morse Code and talk to new friends all over the globe.
Whether you are looking for a great place to entertain the kids on a hot summer day, or wanting to learn more about the wonderful planet we live on, the Arizona Science Center is as magical, as entertaining, and as educational on your hundredth visit as it is your first. Always changing, there is something there to interest everyone. Have you been to the Science Center? What was your favorite exhibit?
