HarvestRight Home Freeze Dryer

November 2, 2014 by Merry Bevill 10 Comments

I’m so excited to be hosting my first giveaway from HarvestRight, whom I met at Prepperfest, in Scottsdale Arizona.

The In-home freeze dryer is here. Preserving food, keeping it safe for our families, using every little bit, and making sure there is enough has always been an important part of our lives. I rely on my freezer to preserve most of my food. Our mothers and grandmothers canned and preserved everything in the garden so that there would be enough to last the winter. Native Americans dried venison into jerky and corn into – well – dried corn. Even ancient history tells us that the people preserved food for the lean times. There are many good reasons to preserve food: to save on grocery costs; to store extra food; to prepare for a rainy day; or to accommodate special diets free of allergens and free of additives. Fast forward to today, we are still canning and drying foods. Some freeze dried foods are available commercially, but we cannot freeze dry at home – until now.

HarvestRight has developed the first in-home freeze dryer. The unit is small enough to sit on a countertop and can freeze meat, fruits, vegetables, desserts, and even full meals. Here’s how it works: Fresh or cooked foods are placed into the unit and frozen to -40F°. Once frozen, the dryer creates a vacuum and seals the food in oxygen proof bags. When water is added back to the food, it tastes just as fresh as the day it was frozen.

The In Home Freeze Dryer can be purchased directly from HarvestRight or from Amazon

HarvestRight has provided a Freeze Dried Combo pack to give away. It consists of a package of freeze dried peaches, a package of freeze dried apples, and a package of freeze dried ice cream sandwiches. Enter to win the Freeze Dried Combo in the widget below. Closes on November 8, 2014.

Disclaimer: HarvestRight provided the freeze dried combo pack. I was not compensated in any way, and all opinions are my own.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen that. I didn’t know I could freeze dry my own foods at home.

I have never heard of freeze drying anything but I am totally intrigued! I love the idea of not having to waste food and being able to freeze dry it and it last for so long! I just purchased a deep freezer and I need food to put in it! 😉

How cool…I didn’t know I could freeze dry my own foods. I love that nearly every food is able to be freeze dried in this machine.
