Lima Beans Solar Style

October 9, 2011 by Merry Bevill 3 Comments

Lima Beans with HamBeans, Beans, Beans!  We love them.  They are easy to make, taste good, and are so good for you.  This week I made Lima Beans with ham.  I put about 2 cups of rinsed Lima beans in the pot.  I added enough hot water to cover the bean and let them “soak & plump” up.  I let them sit about an hour.  Chunks of ham

Since I wanted a nice hearty dish, I added some large chunks of ham for flavor.  Sometimes I add bacon.  No particular amount — just however much you have and how much you want in the beans.

The beans cooked covered in the solar oven for about 3 hours. The exact amount of time needed to cook depends on how hot the oven gets. See more about How Long Does It Take to Cook in a Solar Oven here.

Here is another photo of my Lima Beans from another day, made with bacon.

Yummy, Hot, Delicious Beans!

So tell me please. How do your prefer your lima beans? Ham? Bacon? Plain? Some other way? Share your secrets below.
