Kids love pizza. Teens love pizza. Adults love pizza. It is just one of those foods that almost everyone loves. So when my girls were little these quick little pizza crackers were the perfect afternoon snack. They could make the bites themselves, and then pop them into the microwave. These same little pizza crackers are also an easy snack to fix in a solar oven. They only need to heat long enough to melt the cheese. In fact these are so easy, you already know how to make them just by looking at the picture, don’t you.
Quick Pizza Crackers
- Ritz crackers
- Pepperoni (sliced)
- Jar of Pizza Sauce
- Mozzarella cheese (shredded)Pre-heat the solar oven while preparing the crackers. The oven needs to be as hot as possible so that the cheese will melt quickly. Place the crackers in a single layer on a cookie sheet, or baking pan, that fits into your solar oven. Top with a spoonful of pizza sauce, then a pepperoni, and then a little bit of shredded cheese.
Place into the hot solar oven. It won’t take the cheese long to melt. Mine baked in the Sunflair Portable Solar Oven for about 40 minutes. Eat while warm from the oven.

This is a great idea! I’m already starting to think about the kids being home during the summer and how I can get them to take some responsibility for getting themselves few AND keeping them busy.
This recipe will be perfect! Near instant gratification, a lesson on solar power, active participation, and happy kids. Easy enough for a teen to do all on his own! That’s a recipe I can love!
This would also be the perfect recipe for a Scout demonstration. Most recipes that I’ve seen take at least an hour which is too long for a quick intro to solar cooking. I’ve been looking for things that cook quickly so that I can give a quick lesson, cook something and eat all within a one hour time slot.
Thanks!

Pizza crackers is a recipe that my girls used to make in the microwave. Pop them in for just a few seconds and they are done. I use this recipe when I am doing a demonstration for kids because the kids love it and because it is so very quick. All it takes is enough sun to melt the cheese, so it even works on less than ideal cooking days (but may take a bit longer) Here is a demo I did in March at a local kids camp for spring break. I think the crackers were done in about 15 minutes.
