Last week I had the wonderful opportunity to spend an evening at Roaring Fork Restaurant in Scottsdale Arizona with a group of 12 bloggers at a dinner hosted by Roaring Fork and Blended Blogger Conference. It was my first visit to RF and it was amazing. I need to tell you that I was a little bit rattled when I finally arrived because it had taken me over an hour to make a drive that MapQuest said would only take half an hour. First there was rush hour traffic to deal with. Then my friendly GPS guide told me that I had arrived at my destination — on the right — and the guidance was ending, but I still couldn’t find the building so I drove in circles – around and around and around — until I inadvertently ended up in an underground parking garage that I had no business being in. Eventually, a nice young couple took pity on me. They let me out, giving me these very good directions to the restaurant. “Yes Ma’am. RF is just up this ramp” . By that time I needed a drink – and I don’t drink. When I finally caught my first glimpse of Roaring Fork, the outside entrance told me right away that I had found my new Home Away From Home! #roaringforkrestaurant #blendedconf
I was greeted at the table by a lovely server offering Huckleberry Margaritas. I opted for the Huckleberry Lemonade, in a magic glass that was never empty all night. Yes, that is my Huckleberry Lemonade sitting there beside my table setting.During the course of the evening, we were treated to many fabulous items on the menu. And I was determined to sample every one of them. Beginning with a basket of fresh made tortilla chips and guacamole, there was also a rotisserie chicken flat bread loaded with Pepperjack cheese and roasted chilies, and a lamb chop fondue with roasted squash. I could have made a meal of the kettle of green chili pork with flour tortillas it was so delicious.
Seven entrees were served. Each one was delicious. Although I am especially fond of steak, and the New York strip was cooked to perfection, and I really loved the salmon, my favorite was the Slow Roasted Pork Shoulder Carnitas. By the time dessert was on the table, I was stuffed and my diet had long since been dismissed. But who could resist the rich and smooth Ancho Chocolate Torte with strawberries and whipped cream? A decadent Huckleberry Cheesecake finished off the meal. I had to be rolled out to my car!I cannot wait to go back to Roaring Fork. I already know how to get there and I already know what I’ll be getting. Let’s do lunch!
