Chinese Noodle Candy made in a Solar Flare Parabolic Cooker

Chocolate Chinese Noodle Candy is a treat that can be made in your solar oven.  With just four ingredients, it is so simple that it is included in my Kids in the (Solar) Kitchen menu.

Chinese Noodle Candy

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 cups butterscotch chips
  • 2 cups peanuts
  • 2 cups Chinese noodles

Combine the peanuts and the Chinese noodles in a large bowl.  Next, pour the chocolate chips and the butterscotch chips in a jar or pan. Then, place the jar into the solar cooker for about 30 – 45  minutes to melt the chips. (Be aware that the chips will not look like they are melted until you give them a stir.)  Stir the melted chips together and pour over the peanuts and noodles.  Mix to completely coat. Finally, drop the chocolate covered noodles/peanuts on wax paper or parchment paper sheet to cool.  Place in the refrigerator so they will set quicker.

I melted my chips in a quart jar in the Solar Flare Parabolic solar cooker.  Have you seen this nice little cooker?  The system uses a shiny aluminum reflector collar, quart jar painted black (included), a cooking bag, and a plastic bucket to set the reflector into. It’s easy to set up and easy to cook in the quart jar.
