If you are looking for an easy dessert for kids to make in a solar oven, you can’t go wrong with individual chocolate cakes. The cakes are easily put together and are just the right size for one. Baked in a mug, the small size bakes quickly by solar standards.
Solar Chocolate Cake Baked in a Mug
For each person, you will need 1 large coffee mug. Spray the mug with PAM.
Add the following and mix well.
- 4 TB flour
- 4 TB sugar
- 2 TB cocoa
Add and stir until well blended.
- 1 egg
- 3 TB milk
- 3 TB oil
- a small splash of vanilla extract
Stir in
- 3 TB chocolate chips (optional)
(To make it even easier for kids, try using a boxed mix. Mix a boxed Angel Food cake mix with any flavor cake mix. To use, mix 3 Tablespoons of cake mix with 2 tablespoons of water and mix well.)
Pre-heat solar oven while preparing the recipe. Bake uncovered in the solar oven for about 1 1/2 hours.
Eat it right from the mug while it is hot or let it cool and tip out onto plate. Top with fruit, whipped cream, icing, powdered sugar, or any other topping.
Remember that the mug will be hot when removed from the solar oven, so you will need a pot holder.
